RULES

The Long Ball Tournament will follow the USSSA rules with the below notations.

This is not a USSSA tournament and you will not be awarded points or qualifications to USSSA events. 


LBL Rule Notations

Pitching Rules: We will not follow the USSSA pitching rules! Rules below!

Tie Breakers during pool & playoff bracket:
Pool play games may end in a tie.
Playoff games prior to championship game will use California tie breaker. The last batted out is placed on 2nd with 0 outs and a 0-0 count. 


Championship game will not use any tie breaker rule.
Play regular baseball until the tie is broken! 


Tie Breaker Rules for Bracket Seeding:
1) Winning Percentage
2) Head to Head(more than 2 teams tied, skip this tie breaker)
3) Avg. Runs Allowed
4) Avg. Run Differential with a maximum of (8)
5) Coin Toss


Pitching Rules


Pitching Rules: Innings allowed per tournament through first 4 games played:

-9's = 6 innings
-10's = 6 innings
-11's = 6 innings
-12's = 6 innings
-13's = 7 innings
-14's = 7 innings

*Each player on the roster gets (1) additional inning per game played starting in a team's 5th game played, 6th=1 more inning, 7th=1 more inning, etc...

*No limit on number of appearances.

*Innings: one (1) out equals one-third (1/3) of an inning, two (2) outs equals two-
thirds (2/3) of an inning and three (3) outs equals one (1) full inning. A pitcher that pitches in a game and
records no outs is not charged with any innings pitched.

*Eight warm-ups to start, five thereafter.  Umpires reserve the right to limit the warm-up time to a minimum of 1 minute regardless of the number of pitches thrown.

*If pitching rules are violated and the infraction is detected, the situation will be reviewed and a MINIMUM of the head coach ejection will be enforced. Additional consequences may include the player ejection from game, player and head coach from the tournament, forfeiture of game and elimination of team from the event.

*Scorecards must be signed by both team managers to eliminate inning validation problems. (Managers, please help with this process.)

9U

7,8,9:  All players must have reached their 7th but not their 10th birthday by April, 30th of the baseball season. Players who turn 10 prior to May 1 of the current season are not eligible unless they are in the 3rd grade.


10U

8,9,10: All players must have reached their 8th but not their 11th birthday by April, 30th of the baseball season. Players who turn 11 prior to May 1 of the current season are not eligible unless they are in the 4th grade.


11U

9, 10, 11:  All players must have reached their 9th but not their 11th birthday by April, 30th of the baseball season. Players who turn 12 prior to May 1 of the current season are not eligible unless they are in the 5th grade.


12U

10,11,12: All players must have reached their 10th but not their 12th birthday by April, 30th of the baseball season. Players who turn 13 prior to May 1 of the current season are not eligible unless they are in the 6th grade.


13U

11, 12, 13:L All players must have reached their 11th but not their 13th birthday by April, 30th of the baseball season. Players who turn 14 prior to May 1 of the current season are not eligible unless they are in the 7th grade.


14U

12, 13, 14: All players must have reached their 12th but not their 15th birthday by April, 30th of the baseball season. Players who turn 15 prior to May 1 of the current season are not eligible unless they are in the 8th grade.


REFUND POLICY

  • Age Divison

    • If an age division does not have enough teams to play a tournament. Each team is subject to a full refund less a 2.95% admin fee.


  • No Refunds

    • There are no refunds if the brackets have been posted or the team cancels 14 or fewer days prior to the start of the event. 


  • Cancelation/refund 15 days prior to the tournament date. 

    • If your team requests cancellation 15 days + prior to the event you may be refunded the total registration fee, less a 5% admin fee. 


  • Weather or Act of God

    • If the event is lost due to weather, field conditions, public health orders, or park/field closure for any reason, the following will apply:

  • 0 Games started: Refund of the total registration fee less a 10% admin fee. 

  • 1 game played: 50% refund of the total registration.

  • 2 games started: No refund of the total registration fee.

Bat Restrictions


  • All 14U players must use a maximum drop 5 (-5) bat with the official USSSA 1.15 BPF Mark Permanently stamped or
    BBCOR.50 Certified Mark or made of wood.

  • All 13U players must use a maximum drop 8 (-8) bat with the official USSSA 1.15 BPF Mark Permanently stamped.

  • All 9U -12U players must use a bat with the official USSSA 1.15 BPF Mark Permanently stamped. There is no length or weight requirement.
